Social media has become a prevalent factor in our everyday lives; constantly updating our statuses with anything from accomplishments to the theme of our meals. Along with our technological advancements is the ease of access to cameras and there existence around every corner leading to the new trend of snapshots and self-portraits known as the selfie. Although many acknowledge that sites such as Facebook and Instagram allow connections and networks to family, friends and like-minded individuals, the information dispersed upon these sites are easily accessible by strangers and act as an archival database to the portrayal of our internet personas.

It must be acknowledged that each site lends its own hand to social norms that subtly guide what is an acceptable means of self-expression. By compositing the found images I have created facades of celebrities, family, and even of the American Identity while crafting a depiction of trending hashtags.
